I guess most of students use this type of ruler. This ruler is made of
bamboo. In Japan, the unit of distance is "mm","cm", "km".
I don't know how people count the distance in abroad. We don't use
"mile" or "feet" like America at all.
This ruler is 30 cm. This is a common ruler, maybe.
made of bamboo? Interesting. The rulers over here are made of plastic and are see-trough. Now looking at the pictures - there is a dark stripe along the ruler - what is that? I am asking, because the rulers here normally have a long ruber stripe that makes it harder for the ruler to glide on the paper.

is interesting. Is it still common way?
Luckily, I think the "tradition" to punish kids that way is now gone. I don't think teachers are allowed to express their sadistic side in this way any more.
ReplyDeleteBack then, though, we really thought that the teachers liked it. I tried it only once in my life, but man, did it hurt! I was cought running in the corridor in school - that was forbidden. I was running, because I was going to be late for the class - which was a bad thing, too. So, it was a loose-loose situation for me: caught running meant punishment; late for class - punishment again. The trick was not to get caught, but I failed that one :(

Maybe it causes serious accident
if you hit someone.
But actually, our school
did not have strict punishment.

ReplyDeleteI ran, I got caught, I got punished and was late. So, I got punished again for being late, too.
and you know, they don't hit you on the palms, where it does not hurt that much - they hit you over the back of the hand - f**ing hurts when they hit the knuckles ...

Interesting - I am smiling when I think back about this - it was painful and humiliating back then, but now it is just a fun memory - strange how people tend to forget the bad things, isn't it?
