Japanese traditional culture ~10~ kagami mochi

I show you the kagami mochi today.
This is very small kagami mochi.
Kagami means "the mirror". Mochi is Japanese food. This is white and sticky stuff.
Mochi is made by rice.
It is said that this kagami mochi is named because this stuff looks like the mirror of
ancient time. This is a offerings for God of rice.
Japanese people buy this kagami mochi in this Oshougatsu season.
I imagine that the rice has been very important food from ancient time in Japan.
The top of kagami mochi must be real mikan. But this kagami mochi is a mikan
made by plastic.

 Thanks for reading!
