Japanese habit/custom ~27~ Setsubun

We call 3rd in February "Setsubun".
Setsubun means "the new phase of season".
On 3rd February, people scatter parched beans to drive out bad luck
and call in good luck.
People scatter parched beans in the house many times.
And when people scatter beans, people say, "Huku wa uchi  Oni wa soto!!"
Huku means the God that bring happiness.
"uchi" means inside.
Oni is like a devil.
(I introduced on this blog, when I wrote about Japanese saying おo.)
"soto" means "outside".
After you scatter parched beans, you eat parched beans.
The number of beans you eat depends on your age. If you are 25 years old,
you eat 25 beans.
This ritual is for protecting people from devil.
